A multi-passionate systems thinker and storyteller, focused on improving tech & education with imagination, innovation, and inclusivity, building upon two decades of UX, product, and startup experience. Alja founded ResponsibleTech.Work, European Commission-backed Europe Code Week, and other initiatives aimed at making tech more accessible.

I obtained PhD in Machine Learning and Data Mining and worked as reasercher at Jožef Stefan Institute, Departmant of Knowledge Technologies until 2013. Since then I have been working in the energy domain focusing data challenges in different roles, currently as Data Architect. My focus is on data and integration flow, data governance, quality solutions, monitoring and data related KPI definition.

My IT journey began as a data analyst, leading to diverse roles until I returned to the data realm as a data scientist at Databox in 2023. With a mathematical background, I've always enjoyed working with numbers and readily embraced data challenges throughout my career. My passion lies in demonstrating that numbers extend far beyond mere mathematics, and sharing this insight is what truly fulfills me.

I am a data analyst with a background in financial mathematics and statistics. Over the past five years, I have been working in the field of data analysis having different positions on a project - data analyst or data engineer. In 2023, I had a challenge to be a technical lead for conversion of 15+ BI systems from Croatian kuna to Euro. After 5 years, I still enjoy doing data analytics and reporting projects because each time I learn something new - technology, engineering, business, etc...

Mateja is experienced in digital product development, championing customer-centricity across teams — from engineering to marketing. With a Computer Science Ph.D., she transitioned from academia to startups, honing her craft at Zemanta, Kendu, and EqualEyes, leading to her role as Databox's Product Director. Passionate about professional growth, she delves into leadership and coaching, mentors startups, and supports IT diversity and gender equality initiatives.

After studying at the University of Ljubljana, I joined Jožef Stefan Institute, focusing on AI projects. I earned a Ph.D. from the International Postgraduate School Jožef Stefan. Currently, I'm a team lead at BE-terna, leading the data science team. We are focused on sharing knowledge and consulting the internal and external partners on AI, while successfully implementing data-driven AI solutions, primarily in supply chain optimization and customer behavior.

I am a data scientist with a background in computer science. I've been working with data since the start of my career, gaining experience in data analysis, algorithm development, and machine learning. In my role at Outbrain, I actively contribute to production code while delving into extensive data analysis and utilizing machine learning algorithms to generate data-driven solutions.

I’m a data architect with more than 30 years of experience in data analytics, data warehousing, business intelligence, data engineering, data modeling and everything else related to data. I have written hundreds of blogs and magazine articles on these topics and I frequently speak at conferences and events. As a senior consultant with In516ht, I advise organizations in their data strategy. I hold an MSc degree in computer science and business intelligence.

I am a dedicated data engineer with a solid foundation in computer science and several years of hands-on experience specializing in Data Warehouse (DWH) projects. My background allows me to use my technical and programming skills to implement effective ETL processes while still being able to actively contribute to the development of a python ETL loading tool, showcasing my commitment to innovation and efficiency in data management.

Neja Berger is a PhD candidate and researcher based at the Social Communication Research Centre, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. Her research focuses on the intersection of AI, ethics, and epistemology. Outside academia she is an active journalist and essayist, primarily associated with Radio študent and Disenz, covering diverse subjects with a particular focus on the societal and political implications of emerging technologies.

With over two years of data expertise, I currently work as a Data Scientist at Zurich Customer Active Management (ZCAM) in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Before my current role, I held a Research Assistant position at the Electrical Power Research Institute. My journey has deepened my passion for the dynamic synergy between data science and data engineering, guiding my future path in this exciting field.

Maja the head of ODIPI. She is a Research Affiliate at the BKC Centre for Internet and Society at Harvard. She is a co-chair of the GPAI WG on Data Governance. Her work focuses on open science, open data, data governance and AI as well as the legal framework of copyright and data for research and science. Maja is a lawyer and holds a Master’s degrees in economics and two masters from Harvard Law School and Facoltà di Giurisprudenza di Torino and a PhD from the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana.

Špela Poklukar is Machine Learning Consultant and Data Discipline Lead in Endava Slovenia, and Slovenian Woman Engineer of the Year 2022 award nominee. Currently, she is focusing on generative AI. She has led internal R&D initiatives aimed at developing coding assistant and internal knowledge search and is now engaged in delivering AI-agents based knowledge assistant. She is an active member of Endava innovation community and D&I Forum. Her background is in philosophy, theology, and mathematics.
